Mayor L. Douglas Wilder today announced his appointees to serve on the City Charter Commission.
"The review of the City Charter is vital to ensuring that the government the people voted for will best serve them and continue to move this City forward,” the Mayor said. “I believe each of these individuals will ensure that our governmental transformation will proceed.”
“I made these selections without having advance interviews or closed door sessions in an attempt to try and ascertain their thoughts before appointing them. Nor did I appoint any ‘alternates,’ as the legislation creating the Commission does not contemplate nor provide for such.
“I have the utmost confidence in my appointees. Their qualifications and distinguished voices speak well, both for themselves and for this City.”
The Mayor’s appointees are:
Ms. Jeannie Baliles, Former First Lady of Virginia
Ms. Jacqueline Epps, Esquire
Dr. Robert Holsworth, PhD.
Sen. Benjamin Lambert, III
